Raw Jackfruit Gravy

The world's largest fruit is jackfruit, we can make its vegetable, pickle, kofta etc when it's raw. and when it is ripe people eat it as a fruit.

It is the best thing as it is low in calories, but it is a nutritious fruit which we probably know very little about Vitamin-A, Vitamin-C, Potassium, Calcium and Iron are in abundance in it.

Its intake is very beneficial for health.
So let's make this Curry of jackfruit.

Total time - 30 Minutes (approx)
for 4 people

Ingredients

  • Jackfruit - 500 gram
  • Tomatoes - 4
  • Onion - 2
  • Garlic paste - 10 to 15
  • Oil - 2 tsp + 1 tablespoon +1 1/2 tablespoon
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Kashmiri Mirchi Powder - 3/4 teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder - 2 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala - 1/2  teaspoon
  • Kasoori Methi - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 1 1/2 cup
  • Coriander for garnish

How To Make

Cut jackfruit into big or small pieces.

Now put a non- stick Tawa on gas, put two teaspoons of oil on it and keep the jackfruit pieces to roast on it.

If you have seeds in your jackfruit, then they should also roast on the other side on the Tawa with jackfruit pieces.

When the jackfruit gets roasted from one side, you can turn the jackfruit and if you need put one small spoon of oil.

You can roast the jackfruit until it turns brown.

How to make gravy

Put 2 tablespoons of oil in nonstick Kadai.

Now fry the chopped onions until brown.

After roasting onion, keep it aside till it cools down.

Grind roasted onions, tomatoes, garlic and jackfruit seeds in a mixer.

Heat 1 1/2 tablespoon of oil in the same Non-stick Kadai and heat it and add cumin seeds and bay leaf.

When cumin seeds are light brown, add paste and saute until it leaves the oil

.

When the masala start leaving the oil, add dry spices and two spoons of water to it and stir well.

You will see that the spice colour has been very good and the masala is ready after it starts showing a little oil. Turn off the gas.

Now we will put the spices, pieces of jackfruit and 1 1/2 cups of water in it and then close the cooker.

Let the cooker whistle 2-3, then open it, add garam masala and Kasoori methi and keep it covered for 5 minutes.

The jackfruit vegetable is ready.

Note :

  1. I wanted to use less oil for making this Curry so I have made it in non -stick Kadai and then cooked it in the cooker. If you want, you can direct it cook in cooker.
  2. I have used Kashmiri chilli in it because we do not like much chilli peppers, but it has used garlic and Garam masala which is giving the vegetable its flavour. If you still use too much spices, then you can use 1/4 Teaspoon Kashmir Mirch and 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder in it, depending on the taste you can increase the amount of chilli.
  3. In this, I needed limited amounts of gravy so I have used one and a half cup of water if you are eating it with rice, then you can add two and a half cup of water.
