Kulthi (Horsegram)Dal
Ingredients
- Kulthi Dal - 150 grams
- Onion (Finely Chopped) - 1
- Tomatoes puree - 1 cup
- Garlic Ginger Paste (Crushed) - 1 Teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Asafoetida - A Pinch
- Ghee - 1 tbsp
- Water - 1 1/4 litres (approx.)
- Salt to taste
- Red Chilli Powder - 1/4 Tablespoon
- Black pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Coriander Powder - 1/2 Tablespoon
- Garam Masala - 1/4 Tablespoon
- Thick curd - 2 tbsp
- Green coriander for decoration
How to make
Firstly, clean the Kulthi Dal's carefully. There are very fine-grained stones in it too.
After cleaning, keep the dal soaked in water for 7 to 8 hours.
After 8 hours Dal put in the cooker add water, salt, and turmeric in the dal.
After 1 whistle, leave it for 45 minutes on a low flame.
After 45 minutes. turn off the gas.
Now put another pan on the slow flame
Add ghee to it when the ghee becomes hot,
Then add cumin and asafetida in it. When cumin seeds change the colour
Then add onion in it, fry for 1 minute
Add grated ginger garlic and fry for 1 minute.

Now put tomato puree and cook on medium flame.
When the masala is ready to keep the flame slow then add coriander, black pepper, and red chilli, and mix well.
Meanwhile, if dal is ready to open the lid of the cooker.
The Dal is cooked well but it isn't mixed well.
Put 1 tablespoon of dal's water in a tempering.
When tampering leaves the ghee, add all the pulse water in the frying pan.
Let the dal remain in the cooker, mash the dal with a spoon or masher, it will make the Dal very well.
When the water of Dal boils for 2 to 4 minutes, then add dal and boil it.
Now turn off the gas.
Add curd and garam masala powder in the Dal and stir well. Mix Kulthi Dal Recipe
Decorate with green coriander leaves.
Enjoy this dal with rice or roti.
